From the desk of John Russo

There have been more than the usual number of rumors circulating recently about the plans and political aspirations of City Attorney John Russo. OaklandNews offers this statement from Mr. Russo to our readers. Conspiracy theorists please take note.

"I am definitely NOT running for state office in the upcoming cycle. I am running for reelection as City Attorney. When I ran for City Attorney I said that I thought the job needed at least two terms to make changes that would be meaningful. Nothing I have seen thus far changes my mind about the 5-10 year estimate I gave back in 2000.

As for (running for) Secretary of State, I am interested at some point in the future in giving that some consideration, but that would not be in this upcoming cycle and may not be ever.

No matter what I do, it will be decided based upon what is best for the City Attorney's Office, for me and my family."

Comments...

Wouldn't you know it? Our local conspiracy theorists, political division, are now totally absorbed by the idea of Russo running, with no "maybe" attached, for Secretary of State. What does it take to spike a
rumor in Oakland?

Judging from the apparent lack of interest in the posting, would the answer to the question be.....

....You?

Very funny.

I wish that I could declare spontaneous April Fools Days so that I could start rumors whenever I had the urge -- all with just enough truth to be believable. Then I could sit back and watch the emails fly and laugh for hours. No wait, that's what Drudge and Fox do.

Okay, this one's for you Jack: Give me some form of proof that Ann Coulter is a carbon-based life form,
because a friend swears she (it) is not. Good luck!
