Sharp Oakland Humor: The Lt. Kije Project Lives Here
Hey folks! The KIJE Project, here. We have a special request.
We don't ask for a lot out of life. We live simply... humbly, even. We shun the spotlight, since we have no desire to have a personality cult, unlike some Mayors we know. We prefer our web site to stand or fall on its own merits.
But we do have a favor to ask of you.
Please write us in for a Webby Award.
Now, we're not going to win. We don't want to win. We don't deserve to win.
But we looked at the list of nominees, and there was no one representing Oaktown, as the kids say today. We have to be representin', people!
And if we get enough people to nominate us, it'll just drive Jerry nuts. Our Mayor turns the most beguiling shade of purple when he's angry, don't you think?
Remember -- that's what people say about Oakland. We have a colorful Mayor. Let's make him really colorful.
It's really easy to do:
1.Register to vote for the Webbys at this site:
http://www.webbyawards.com/peoplesvoice/ (Make sure you unclick the buttons where they ask you if you want their newsletter/spam. Trust us, you don't.)
2.Once you're in, click on the Politics category. (We have a friend nominated in the Humor category, and we don't want to run against him. Besides, who said we were funny?)
3.Scroll down to "Write-in a vote" and in the fields provided, type (or cut & paste) "KIJE Project" and "http://home.att.net/~lieutenantkije/index.html" and then click the "vote" button to the right.
4.Click "cast your vote now" to submit your write-in ballot.
Now wasn't that the most painless campaign ever? No backscratching deals with developers or gambling interests... no promises made or broken... if only they could all be this way.
Thanks soooooooo much.
The KIJE Project.
Yes, goddammit, we'll write something else and send it to Jeannette so she can post it here.
**sigh**
The KIJE Project
+++++++ EOM +++++++
Exactly. Precisely. This is what I have been begging you for for what,
two years? Two and a half?
Jeannette
I like your site, but why don't you update it more often. I just got a web site for $100 a year, that's easy as pie to maintain.
Also, what is the significance of Lt. Kije? I know the Prokifiev suite, but I don't know the story.
P.S. You can link to my site if you want. I'm a bona fide Oakland artist, and I update my site at least as often as you do.
